DEBATE CONTEST

General Rules

– The format of the debate will apply the British parliamentary debate.

– The debate will consist of four teams of two person.

– A team will consist of the following members:

1. Opening government (OG)

2. Closing government  (CG)

3. Opening opposition (OG)

4. Closing opposition (CO)

Preparation

– A team should have at least 15 minutes to prepare all debates.

– A team should arrive a their debate within five minutes of the scheduled time for that debate.

– Members are permitted to use printed or written material  during the preparations and during the debates, the use of electronic equipment is prohibited nor during the preparation or during the debates (include cellular phone and electronic dictionary).

Timing

– The debate will be held for 7 minutes and the speakers will be given extra 15 seconds if they have not yet finished their speech.

– In the middle of the speech, the listeners (Opposition or Government) will be given a chance to deliver P.O.I (Point Of Information) for 15 seconds.

– At the beginning of 6th minutes you will hear a single knock. At the beginning of 7th minutes you will hear second knock twice. And at the end 7th minutes and additional 15 seconds you will hear the knock repeatedly.

– If you speak more than 7 minutes and 15 seconds, there will be a score-cutting.
